I cannot imagine a better place to stay on Stewart Island. We visited for two days and wished we had planned for longer. The lodge is comfy and spotless. Annette's dinner and breakfast were top notch. She even left hot water bottles in our beds to warm us up after a late evening of Kiwi spotting. Annette is a fantastic host who hits that sweet spot between attentiveness and giving her guests space. Just the best experience all around!!

Absolutely the best place I’ve stayed on the island. This was my third visit to the island and Observation Rock Lodge is by far my favorite. The atmosphere is wonderfully relaxing with stunning views, and the location feels peaceful and remote while still being close to everything. I had the chance to see all the rooms and each one is beautifully designed — the upstairs room is especially amazing. Annett is the most thoughtful and caring host you could wish for. Highly recommend — a place I’ll definitely return to.

A slice of paradise, perfect for our honeymoon trip. The gardens are beautiful, the accommodation is stunning (great taste in interior design), the breakfast is lovely, and the hostess Annett made sure all of our needs were met. As if we’re in a nature reserve, with parrots all around us. We only stayed for three nights, wished we stayed longer!
