Our tour guide Stephan is incredibly knowledgeable about the landscape and wildlife in the Westfjords area. A nature lover himself he's been narrating the region for tourists for over 20 years - he knows every bit of Westfjords and Iceland. Particularly noteworthy is his emphasis of hardship in winters. Hopefully the Westfjords will draw in more tourists than it does and eventually stabilize the population outflow. Weather was not in its best on our tour but the iconic waterfall of Dynjandi still shines. Also appreciate the stop at the museum about Iceland's most respected independence advocate. Tour price is definitely on the pricey side but you're guaranteed a small tour.

We did a Dynjandi waterfall tour (6 hours on 51 seater bus) which visited many of the fjords with quick stops to see the little villages and waterfalls. Bus was very nice, driver was great, and our guide Barbara was amazing! She talked nonstop the entire time we were on the bus explaining Iceland history, the local towns and culture, food and the fishing industry, what it was like in the winter, and she answered all random questions. A great bargain compared to the cruise shop tours, and Barbara was an excellent local guide.

Dynjandi Waterfall in Isafjordur and Lake Myvatn & Godafoss in Akureyri by Wild Westfjords We arrived in Isafjordur and Akureyri on a cruise ship. Due to the fact that the shore excursions to Arctic Circle, Northern Europe and Iceland sold on the ship were so expensive, I started to shop around online. I found The Wild Westfjords Travel Agency. After making a small research online about it, I booked on the go 2 shore excursions with them - Lake Myvatn & Godafoss in Akureyri and Dynjandi Waterfall in Isafjordur. The booking process was easy. I had some questions, e-mailed them to Wild Westfjords, they answer back to all my concerns and we had 2 great days in Westfjords, the Northwestern most part of Iceland. Everything went very smoothly, starting from the pick up till drop off at our cruise ship dock. The excursions aren't cheep, especially if you are a family of 4 like us or more, but well worth it if you want to see the natural splendors in this remote part of Iceland, where the tourist season is very short and intense. Going to Dynjandi Waterfall, our tour guide was Elsi. She was very informative in sharing with us all about Westfjords and giving us the right amount of time for wondering around breathtaking scenery. The Akureyri Tour was very well coordinated as well. Icelandic People are very beautiful, warm and welcoming. Definitively, I recommend The Wild Westfjords Travel Agency as your guides to Iceland, especially to the dramatic and breathtaking Westfjords! Thank you so much to Elsi, Emanuela and Halldor!
