Excellent food. Do not be tricked by the simple words on the menu, as behind each on is an excellent and complex dish. The quality of the dishes is 100% worth the prices. I went with A La Carte and had the Octopus and Potato Toast, Pappardella and Fungi, and Choc and Coffee. For the Octopus and Potato Toast, the octopus had a nice sweetness, complimenting the tanginess from the pickled daikon. The octopus was tender, combined with the velvety texture of the potatoes, and the crunch from the small chips and toast. The Pappardella and Fungi was a surprise. It had a delicious mushroom duxelles and mascarpone cheese inside the pasta, with different mushrooms spread around the plate. Each mushroom adding a different texture the dish. For dessert, I had the Choc and Coffee. It came with chocolate ganache, Sichuan pepper gelato, and I think it was a pistachio custard on a crumb bed. The woodiness from the Sichuan pepper, nuttiness from the pistachio and the chocolate was delicious. Each one had a different texture which helped mix and complement each other.

We had the pleasure of dining here on our honeymoon and it was a 10/10 experience. The experience first started with a yuzu mandarine orange sour which was perfectly balanced and delicious. We ate all a carte and the food choices we made were spot on. The tenderloin was perfectly cooked it melted in our mouths. Highly recommend the fennel if you are into that flavor along with the fungi parpadelle. The noodles were cooked to perfection and the dish was light and playful. I was especially impressed with our waiters knowledge of the wine list and by the glass suggestions. The local assertixo white wine was so good. So happy we decided to dine here and would recommend to anyone.

We had a wonderful dinner at Toast & Oak – a true hidden gem in Queenstown! The restaurant is beautifully stylish yet incredibly cozy, with a warm and inviting atmosphere. You can choose between à la carte or the chef’s tasting menu. We went for à la carte, and every single dish was outstanding – perfectly executed and full of flavor. A special mention goes to our sommelier Nathalie, who was absolutely brilliant. She curated four stunning wine pairings (all local and rather unique) that complemented each course perfectly. Her knowledge and passion for the wines were impressive – every recommendation felt spot-on. Toast & Oak is definitely on the higher-end side, but it fully delivers on its promise: exceptional kitchen, impeccable service, and a thoughtfully curated menu. One of the best dining experiences we’ve had in NZ – highly recommended!
