We had a great experience with our guide Fábio and boat Captain Reynir. They were so on it- we went straight to where the whales were and saw them the whole time until we had to go back. We saw two Humpbacks and a Minke. Fábio told us all about the history and geology of the area that draws the whales to this bay, as well as their behaviour and what to look for. I learned a lot. Reynir was always on the ball and never missed a sighting- jetting us out to where they were so we could get the best views. Definitely recommend the speed boat, you’ll see more whales that way. Go to Husavik to see the whales- you won’t regret it!

What an experience!! I saw humpback whales for the first time in my life, and it was absolutely unreal. They are extraordinary animals, and even the guides, who see them every day, had pure joy on their faces when they spotted them again! A truly special event, and I recommend everyone to go see these amazing animals. Since we were there in August, it was also the last weeks when you can still see puffins — the iconic birds of Iceland — which was great, because until then I had only seen them on TV. The place was easy to find, everything was clearly explained, we waited for our group’s time, they gave us clothing, instructed us, and we boarded the boat. The boat is super safe — just be prepared for a bit of sea water in your face if you sit on the outer side 😄

Absolutely incredible experience. The speed boats (whale safari tour) are the way to go for serious whale watching: after sitting out in the middle of the bay, we'd spot a blow and be able to speed to the whales within minutes. We were incredibly lucky to see several humpback whales, including a juvenile breaching, on 9/30. Being able to see these incredible animals from 10-15 feet away is just breathtaking. Our guide, Carla, was enthusiastic and informative.
