Friends of Moby Dick - Whale Watching

We joined the 3-hour whale watching tour with Friends of Moby Dick in Húsavík – and it was absolutely amazing! 🐋💙 We were so lucky with the weather in October and got to see many whales up close. The tour was very well organized, and the marine biologist on board was fantastic – she shared so much interesting knowledge, explained the behavior of the whales, and even recognized individual ones by their fins. What I appreciated most was the respectful and mindful way the animals were treated – no chasing or getting too close, just observing them calmly in their natural environment. A wonderful experience I can highly recommend to anyone who wants to see whales in a responsible and unforgettable way. 🌊🐋

We went whale watching on Christmas Day and had an amazing experience! Our guide was kind, enthusiastic and knowledgeable, and went out of her way to make our 7-year old comfortable. Not only did we have beautiful pink and orange skies all throughout the tour, we also got to see a group of orca’s 😍. The skipper was very respectful of the animals, keeping a distance and lowering speed. The orca’s were curious enough though to come closer and we got to see them from close by. One even swam right underneath the boat! We had a great time and loved the tour. Thanks Jitka (I hope I wrote your name ok 🤞)!

Amazing experience! This is a family business that truly respects the whales and their environment. They never aggressively chased them or got in their way, always keeping a respectful distance. The guide had such a soothing voice and spoke with genuine love about the whales. Another big plus the boat was much less packed than other tour agencies we saw, which made the experience so much more comfortable. Everyone had space and could easily see the whales without crowding. While I usually get sick from literally anything that moves, the captain kept the boat as steady and as smooth as possible, so it was much better than I expected. Still, for anyone planning to join, I’d recommend taking sea sickness tablets in advance cause it’s long trip. Overall, such a respectful and unforgettable way to see whales up close. I highly recommend this tour agency.
