I took a 5 hours excursion with Albatros Adventures from Kangerlussuaq to Point 660: excellent value for money - very knowledgeable guide with us on the bus en route there and back, an amazing experience walking on the Greenlandic Ice Sheet. Point 660 is a must to visit!

We made a combo tour of the Ice Cap & Russels glacier with Arctic Ice tours. This is the only tour agency that offers a combined tour. We were a group of 8 friends so one of us drove the second car. It was a very nice tour. The Ice Cap is a short walk on the ice with steep sections. I totally recommend the combo!

Point 660 is the name of the place where the road reaches the Ice Sheet. The road was built as a test track by Volkswagen but is now a normal road used by tourists and scientists to access the ice. From the end of the road, you can climb up and down some moraines to access the Ice Sheet. A short walk on the ice and you already have more than 50 meters of ice below your feet. In summer, this alien landscape of icy hills and rivers, lakes and waterfalls is truly a sight to behold. Of course you cannot risk going alone without an expert who knows the way and the dangers. I went there with Albatros Arctic Circle and the Full Day Ice Cap Adventure (8h-tour) was absolutely amazing. We stopped multiple times on the way to Point 660, had lunch at the glacier and the guides told us a lot about the local lore, history and wildlife. A long walk on the ice was truly the highlight of the trip.
