An exceptional place that will stay in our memory for a very long time — not only because of the food, but especially because of the outstanding service. Ovttas offers much more than a beautiful meal. It is a deeply authentic experience rooted in Sámi culture, filled with calm, warmth and respect for tradition. Special recognition goes to the service staff, and in particular the waiter who took care of our table. The level of professionalism, genuine kindness and attentiveness we experienced was truly remarkable — something rarely encountered, even in top-tier restaurants. The service was perfectly balanced: never intrusive, yet always present at the right moment. Thanks to this exceptional service, our evening became more than just dinner — it turned into a meaningful and memorable experience. These are the kinds of moments you carry with you long after the trip ends. Ovttas is a place you visit not only for outstanding food, but for atmosphere, emotion and lasting memories. An absolute must when visiting Kiruna.

Extremely tasty, authentic Sami food and atmosphere. We tried everything on the menu and everything was delicious. I highly recommend this place. If you are im the area, make a reservation and come experience this amazing place. Note that it might be a bit chilly even with the fireplace on, so bring warm clothes, especially if you visit with children.

We visited after touring the Ice Hotel and ended up arriving about 40 minutes before dinner was served which was at 17:00. We did however get a drink (Absolutely try the peppermint hot chocolate) to tide us over and looked inside the shop that they have when you walk into the yurt. It was filled with Sami artists work, from jewelry to cups, however the reindeer pelt is what we were after. It is treated which means the hair isn’t going to fall out with use, and it is incredibly soft. Anyways, it was my first time trying reindeer as I ordered reindeer stew and it was my most favorite meal I’ve had being in Sweden, and the chef loaded mine up with meat, I even sent my compliments to them. Mico and Alexandra were our servers, and they were incredibly sweet and easy to chat with as we were the only ones there during the interval from lunch to dinner. Overall I would absolutely recommend from the cozy atmosphere, friendly staff, and amazing food and drink. If you’re going to try reindeer, try it here.
