I recently had the pleasure of staying at Vardø Hotel for three nights, and it was a wonderful experience from start to finish. Check-in was quick and efficient, and we were delighted to be given a first-floor room with stunning views overlooking the harbor—a truly special sight. The lobby area was cozy and inviting, with plenty of seating and a warm fireplace, making it a perfect spot to relax. While we were disappointed to learn the restaurant was closed over the weekend (we were there Thursday through Sunday), we did have the opportunity to enjoy a delicious dinner during our stay. The fresh fish dishes were beautifully presented and full of flavor, perfectly complemented by a couple of local beers. We regretted not having room for dessert! Our room was comfortable, featuring a water kettle and several tea bags, (though coffee would have been a welcome addition), a comfortable bed, a desk, and a small seating area. While the bathroom could use a bit of an upgrade and had limited amenities, we understand renovations are on the horizon. Breakfast was served in the same room with harbor views and offered a wide variety of options to start the day. Although the coffee machine took a bit of getting used to, it became a fun little ritual each morning. The hotel’s location is fantastic, with everything in Vardø within easy walking distance. Overall, a lovely stay, and I’d definitely return if I find myself in Vardø again!
